Self-Care Sessions

These 30-minute Zoom meeting sessions will focus on helping attendees increase their attention and practice self-care with creative arts. The need for self-care among EMDR therapists has been noted in surveys taken by EMDRIA members and past conference attendees, especially during the pandemic.

Jamie Marich, Ph. D

Dr. Jamie Marich (she/they) travels internationally training on topics related to EMDR Therapy, trauma, addiction, expressive arts and mindfulness while maintaining a private practice and online education operations, the Institute for Creative Mindfulness, in her home base of Akron, Ohio. She is the developer of the Dancing Mindfulness approach to expressive arts therapy, and the developer of Yoga for Clinicians.  Jamie is the author of numerous books, including the popular EMDR Made Simple, and co-author of EMDR Therapy and Mindfulness for Trauma Focused Care and Healing Addiction with EMDR Therapy: A Trauma-Focused Guide. Her newest book, Dissociation Made Simple, is scheduled for release in January 2023 from North Atlantic Books. Jamie is a woman living unapologetically with a Dissociative Disorder, and this forms the basis of her award-winning passion for advocacy in the mental health field.

Irene M. Rodriguez, M.S., LMHC, REAT

Irene M. Rodriguez, M.S., LMHC, REAT is the founder and director of Mindful Journey Center. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT), Certified Laughter Yoga Facilitator with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. Irene is a senior faculty member with The Institute for Creative Mindfulness and provides EMDR Therapy foundational training. She provides clinical supervision and EMDR therapy consultation as an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant to clinicians. Irene began practicing in community mental health settings, going on to train extensively in addiction, trauma, EMDR, mindfulness and expressive arts as well as specializing in compassion fatigue.
