Diversity / Equity / Inclusion

This will be a 30-minute zoom meeting with a panel of four EMDR therapists who will respond to questions from participants around issues of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion encountered in the EMDR therapeutic process. Attendees will submit questions via chat. The panelists will be live and take turns responding to participant questions.

Roshni Chabra, LMFT

Roshni Chabra identifies as an Indian Dyke/Lesbian Intersectional Feminist Therapist Empath and is the Founder and President of the Lavender Healing Collective. She has worked in mental health for over 20 years and has served various populations including LGBTQ+ youth and adults, couples, families, probation, and foster youth, as well as folx with addiction and complex trauma. Roshni worked in the Rape Crisis Movement both locally and in San Francisco for five years providing direct services to survivors. Roshni is currently the COO of Start Again Associates and is an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant and training facilitator.

Sue Genest

Sue Genest, RCC, CCC

Sue Genest, Director of Life Journeys Counselling and Training, has over 34 years of experience in the mental health field and healthcare, counselling, disability care provider, health educator, researcher in the area of mental health, medical faculty, and University and Private instructor. Over the years, Sue has won numerous awards for her academic work and taught several University classes (counselling skills, lifespan development, mind/body/spirit medicine, qualitative research, and sexuality). She has published articles and presented in the areas of holistic healing, pediatrics, qualitative research, sexuality and career counselling. Genest is an EMDRIA-approved training provider and teaches EMDR basic and Advanced Courses.

Brittany

Brittany A Johnson, LMHC

Brittany A Johnson, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a private practice in Southern Indiana. Brittany is certified in several trauma modalities including racial trauma and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and is an Approved Consultant in EMDR. Brittany has worked with juveniles in the justice system, families and now works with adults to help them manage their mental health and heal from past trauma. Today Brittany works with her brand LifesavHer to teach women how to recognize past hurts and triggers and learn new skills to heal and change their behavior.

Cio Hernandez, PhD, LPCC, LMFT

Dr. Cío Hernández is the CEO of Got This! Inc. a self-help app that lowers stress and boosts confidence, in English and in Spanish. She has a private practice as an LPCC and is an LMFT in California, Texas, and Hawaii specializing in trauma immigration and goal-getting through LENS Neurofeedback and EMDR. Cio is also the CEO of Be It Foundation which funds programs to prevent mental health stigma, including EMDR training scholarships to providers in South Texas.
Cio has dedicated her career to equity, diversity, and inclusion and serves on the EMDRIA race equity committee.

Jordanna

Jordanna L. Saunders, MC LPC NCC CEAP

Jordanna L. Saunders, MC LPC NCC CEAP EMDR Certified Therapist & Consultant-In-Training. She is Navajo and grew up on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. Jordanna is a mom, artist, mentor, trainer and Counselor. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She minored in American Indian Studies and Anthropology before completing her Masters of Counseling degree at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. She owns and operates a group counseling practice in Arizona called Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona. She has a strong interest in the work of EMDR Therapy with American Indians & the underserved.
